THE MIZ GOLFS “FORE” CHARITY

CROMWELL, Conn. – Not even pouring rain could stop The Miz from being “Awesome” on the golf course. The WWE Superstar entertained and delighted the WWE Universe and PGA Tour fans in his first, albeit wet, Travelers Celebrity Pro-Am to help raise funds for charity.

“Whenever I can get out and go golfing, especially for a good cause, it always makes everything worthwhile,” The Miz said.

While their star-studded team didn’t win the Pro-Am, The Miz, Academy Award-winning actor Joe Pesci, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski and PGA Tour professional Vaughn Taylor drew the largest, most animated crowd on the TPC River Highlands course.

“It was my first time ever playing here and it was incredible. I think a lot of my shots were better than Vaughn’s, who was our pro today,” The Miz joked.

“Gronkowski, Joe Pesci and myself kept the crowd alive. And they were loud! They were cheering, they were booing.”

Each year the Travelers Championship donates its net proceeds to 130 Connecticut charities. One of the organizations the Pro-Am helped raise funds for is Connecticut’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a center founded in 1988 by Paul Newman that helps children with cancer, sickle cell anemia and other illnesses. The Miz met several children from the camp before the Pro-Am.

“We’re raising money for kids with illnesses who can go to a camp to feel normal, feel like they can do whatever they want to do. It’s a pretty great camp,” the former WWE Champion said.

After a morning rain delay, The Miz and his foursome kicked off nine holes of golf. Despite wet course conditions and a few sprinkles which again turned into downpours, the WWE Superstar refused to quit – or even put on a rain jacket.

“I was in the rough a few times and I got out of it pretty good, I think. I hit a lot of great shots. The problem is, I don’t get to practice that much because WWE is always traveling 250 days a year. I don’t have time to golf,” The Miz explained. “So it was actually great to get out there again. It reminded me of back in the day when I used to go with my dad all the time, except I didn’t have my dad yelling at me the entire time, which was great. Instead I had Joe Pesci.”

The Superstar revealed that Pesci had plenty to say about The Awesome One’s abilities on the links.

“Basically [Pesci’s] quote was, ‘Character-wise, The Miz is worse than Bill Murray on a golf course,’ which I will take as a compliment. Bill Murray is one of the greatest actors and comedians of all time. And if I am better than him at something, especially on the golf course, that’s fantastic for me. So Joe Pesci enjoyed playing with me.”

The dedicated Mizfits in the crowd – complete with “Hello, I’m Awesome” T-shirts – remained until the 9th hole, cheering their favorite WWE Superstar through difficult, wet shots in the rough.

“There were a ton of Mizfits out there. I was shocked. And they walked with us the entire time, which was incredible. I think they saw that I am the greatest golfer in the world. I will entertain them in the ring, as well as on the golf course,” The Miz said.

The Miz stopped to pose for photos and sign autographs for many of The Mizfits at the TPC River Highlands, including Steve Fiano of Bolton, Conn., who, with a friend, waited outside in the rain since 7 a.m. to see their favorite Superstar.

“You don’t really get a chance to meet a guy like him too often, so I had to come out and see him,” Fiano said. “It’s worth it for The Miz. If anybody else was here, we wouldn’t be here, but The Miz is here, so that’s awesome.”

While on the links, The Miz even discovered a possible (and equally-imposing) new tag team partner – the 6-foot-6, 265-pound NFL player, Gronkowski.

“The Gronk & The Miz – I think we’ll be a great tag team with WWE, as well as a great tag team with the Patriots. If he ever needs me out there to run a route, to make some blocking for him, I will have no problem doing that. If I need him in the ring, he’s there for me. Maybe he can tackle someone and I can Skull-Crushing Finale the person. It’ll be great.”

And as for the professional golfers, The Miz is certain he’s met his match in one of the PGA Tour’s most colorful players, former PGA Championship and British Open winner, John Daly.

“He’s a great guy and I talked to him for a little bit. … He actually had a shirt that said ‘Loudmouth,’” The Miz explained, referring to Daly’s partnership with the Loudmouth Golf clothing line. “I like to think of it as the biggest loudmouth on the golf course versus the biggest loudmouth in WWE. So if it’s The Miz vs. John Daly – who’s going to win? I think the fans.”

WWE MONEY IN THE BANK PREVIEW

At WWE Money in the Bank, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Alex Riley, Evan Bourne, Alberto Del Rio, The Miz, R-Truth and Jack Swagger have the chance to attain a contract granting them a World Championship opportunity at any time over the next year. The only catch? That contract is inside a briefcase hanging 20 feet above the ring. To get it, one of these Superstars will have to survive a Ladder Match as treacherous and brutal as any bout in sports-entertainment.

Since its introduction at WrestleMania 21 in 2005, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match has proven to be a star-maker. Top Superstars like Edge and CM Punk grabbed their first World Titles after winning the bout and announced themselves to the WWE Universe as champions that deserved to be watched. Over the past six years, every one of the six competitors like Punk and Edge who “cashed in” their title match contract walked away with the championship in their hands.

For competitors like Riley, Kingston, Bourne, Truth and Del Rio, winning this bout would put them in the perfect position to capture their first World Titles. Each of these men have an opening to make the same major breakthrough that The Rated-R Superstar did in 2005, so expect these warriors to pull out all the stops — by pure athleticism or sheer cunning, if need be — when they enter the Allstate Arena on July 17.

For Superstars like Mysterio, Miz and Swagger, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match presents an opportunity to get back on top of the mountain. All three competitors have held a World Title in the past and both The Awesome One and The All-American American won Money in the Bank Ladder Matches in 2010. These former winners will look to duplicate the shrewd success of Punk and Edge — both of whom triumphantly cashed in on two separate occasions. Meanwhile, The Master of the 619, competing for the first time in this dangerous environment, will attempt to overcome the odds — something he is better at than any other competitor in WWE.

On July 17, the dreams of one of these eight Superstars will come true — but it will be a nightmare for them to make it happen. They will strive for WWE’s apex, but will literally need to climb their way there. Witness all the grit and glory for yourself at WWE Money in the Bank, only on pay-per-view.

RAW HOUSE SHOW RESULTS

6-26-11 Houston, TX

Alex Riley beat The Miz via DQ at 8:13. Miz teased taking a count-out, but re-entered the ring at nine. Miz quickly cut of Riley and worked him over for a while. Slow pace, then some nice nearfalls before Miz grabbed a chair and jabbed Riley for the DQ. Miz tried another chair shot, but Riley stole the chair and Miz bailed. Okay match. Riley isn’t there yet as a top face. He needs time in the ring and for the crowd to have a reason to get behind him other than “he’s not Miz.”

http://www.abc2news.com/dpp/lifestyle/wwe-comes-to-baltimore-for-live-show

BALTIMORE - To promote the special three-hour live event at 1st Mariner Arena, Mike "The Miz" Mizanin joined Megan and Charley on Good Morning Maryland at Nine.

RAW COVERAGE – 20/6/2011

Miz’s music and out he comes. Really? Really? Really? Really? They want to complain about what happened to them last night? “You whiners! You bunch of crybabies! Waa! Waa! Waa!” Miz says Christian is complaining about a bad ref call. R-Truth is complaining about a Little Jimmie? Miz’s gripes are legitimate! A ref should not be physically involved in a match. Riley didn’t win a match last night, he had it handed to him on a silver platter.

Christian says their situations are a little bit different from what they’re saying here. He fought his apprentice last night and was unsuccessful, but Christian and R-Truth were in Title Matches last night. “Awesome!” chants.

Miz says, “How dare you?”

Christian to R-Truth, “How dare you?”

R-Truth to Christian, “How dare me? How dare you?”

Miz to Christian, “Really?” Then to R-Truth, “Really?” Then back to Christian, “Really?”

The fans answer Miz with ‘Really!’

Christian turns to miz, “Really?” Christian to R-Truth, “Really?”

R-Truth to Miz, “Really?” Then to Christian, “Really?”
Christian to Miz, “Really? Riley?”

Miz to Christian, “Really? Randy?”

Back and forth between the two with, “Randy” and “Riley” until R-Truth steps in with “Jimmy” over and over.

Before they can go any further and make my brain hurt Teddy Long comes out and tells them to all shut up! The fans don’t want to see them blabbering in the ring, they want to see them fighting in the ring. They’ll be in a Six Man Tag Team Match. The fans will pick what type of match. They’ll be facing the team of Alex Riley, Randy Orton and John Cena.

Elimination Match – 6 Man Tag Team Match – R-Truth & Christian & Miz vs. Alex Riley & Randy Orton & John Cena
R-Truth out to the ring. Video of Little Jimmie throwing a drink in R-Truth’s face. “Little Jimmie!” chants. Christian out to join R-Truth. Miz comes out to round out their team. Riley comes out to the ring, but waits outside for his partners. Orton out and they get in the ring. Cena comes out all silly and goofy.

- Commercial

Miz and Cena circle. Dueling chants of, “Let’s go Cena!” and “Cena sucks!” starts quietly, but grows. Side headlock on Cena. Arm bars and hold on each other until Cena’s back in the side headlock. Wild blow from the Miz, then Cena hits his running bulldog for two. Orton tags in.

Upper cuts and blows from Orton. Orton whipped but comes out with a huge clotheslines. Orton drops a knee, but only gets two.Orton telegraphs eating a kick to the chest and a big boot to the face. Christian tags in.

Christian stomps Orton, but Orton comes back with blows. A knee trips Orton for two. Orton keeps away from his corner. Christian distracts the ref while Miz attacks Orton from outside. Christian chokes Orton with a foot, then hits a neck breaker on Orton. Blows to Orton as “RKO” chants grow loud. Orton on Christian, but then Christian tags out and R-Truth hard on Orton with a chinlock.

Orton to his feet, but not free. Orton tries to get closer to his corner as R-Truth locks on a sleeper. Orton is fading, but wait! Orton comes to with a backdrop on R-Truth. Christian tags in and Orton is set up for a killswitch. Orton reverses to an RKO, then Christian reverses into a DDT for two. Christian plays Edge in a corner, but when rushing Orton, Orton manages that sick scoop slam and both are down.

Riley tags in and on Christian hard! A couple clotheslines, then a slam on Christian. Christian grabs Riley, but Riley avoids the killswitch with an elbow. Miz rushes in. Riley back and forth between the two until they overpower him and is stomped on the mat. Cena rushes in, takes out R-Truth, then somehow has the ref in a side headlock briefly! Miz nails Riley with a SCF, Christian pins for three.

Eliminated – Riley

The heels are setting up to continue. Cena just looks confused.

- Commercial

Miz pins Orton for two. Blows to Orton’s head. Forearms over Orton’s shoulders onto his chest. Miz backs into a corner, stalking Orton, but eats a clothesline! Cena tags in and hits his shoulder block and then slam in what Cole calls ‘vintage’ Cena. Five Knuckle Shuffle. Miz up, then he gets free, hits a combination and pins Cena for two. A boot to Cena in a corner. Cena hits the mat and Miz climbs. Miz off the top, but caught by Cena. Cena pins, but the heels in to attack. Miz chokes Cena on the second rope. Cheap shot from R-Truth, then Christian tags in.

Sleeper on Cena in the center of the ring. More dueling chants. Cena is able to get free but runs into a back elbow for two. R-Truth tags and mocks Cena.

A blow to Cena, then R-Truth plants Cena for two. Cena blocks a suplex, then hits his own. Both are down. Cena reaches, almost there, but then R-Truth grabs an ankle. A big crash, has to be Orton on the metal stairs. Cena pushes R-Truth off. R-Truth tags out, but Cena can’t.

Miz stalks Cena for the STF. Christian rushes in, but Cena knocks him off his feet with Miz’s feet. AA to Miz and Cena pins for three.

Eliminated – Miz

R-Truth in and already stomping on Cena. R-Truth pins Cena for two. A shoulder/head hold on Cena. Cena pushes to his feet, then back body drops R-Truth to free himself. Christian tags in. Cena gets him up for an AA, but Christian rakes his eyes. Christian with a DDT, then climbed. Christian waited too long for his flying head butt, so he ate mat. Both R-Truth and Orton are able to tag in.

Clotheslines on R-Truth from Orton, then that scoop slam. Orton hits his DDT through the ropes in what Cole calls ‘vintage’ Orton. Orton is ready for the RKO, but Christian in and tries to set up the killswitch, but Orton gets free and clotheslines Christian from the ring. Orton turns back to R-Truth and gets a kick in the gut. R-Truth misses Booker’s scissor kick and Orton is able to hit the RKO for three.

Eliminated – R-Truth

Christian right in and on Orton for the three as Orton sells some serious pain in his elbows? Gut? Ribs?

Eliminated – Orton

Christian turns to find Cena there. Cena gets Christian up for the AA, but Christian holds the top rope tightly. Cena has to free him, but then Christian turns right into an RKO! Cena locks on the STF and Christian taps.

Winner – John Cena

CAPITOL PUNISHMENT COVERAGE:

Backstage: Miz was interviewed and asked whether he thought he could defeat Alex Riley. Miz said that Riley is a shelter dog that Miz saved from the NXT reject pile. He said that if people don’t think that he can beat Riley, that just shows how far people think he’s fallen in the last month. He said that Riley was just a glorified bag carrier and tonight, he was going to show the world why he is awesome.

The Miz vs. Alex Riley
Miz began trash talking Riley. He was holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, so I’m guessing that comes into play later. Riley nailed Miz, chased him out and back into the ring and wailed away on him with rights. Miz caught him and kicked and punched away at Riley, punting him in the chest with a kick. Miz drilled Riley with a series of rights, screaming that he was a punk as he nailed him. Miz ripped at Riley’s face and stomped him. The hometown crowd was getting behind Riley but you could hear dueling chants for Miz as well.

Miz’s beating continued outside the ring, where Miz told Riley that he “was the one, not you” and nailed a running boot to the face. He rolled Riley into the ring and covered him for a two count. Riley tried to nail Miz with a punch but Miz avoided it. Riley tagged him with a wild shot and made a comeback with several punches. Miz locked in a side chinlock and climbed on Riley’s back. He pulled Riley to the mat and scissored Riley’s body with his legs. Riley was suplexed back and covered for a two count. Miz went to the top and came off with a flying axehandle for another two count. Miz tied him to the tree of woe and stomped Riley in the corner. Miz went for a sliding kick but Riley pulled up and Miz crotched himself against the ring post.

Riley speared Miz as he charged him in the corner and began working him over. He shoved Miz into the turnbuckles and caught him with a spinebuster for a two count. Miz tried to back off but when Riley charged, he was tossed out of the ring. Riley nailed Miz as he went to leave the ring and covered him for another two count. Outside of the ring, Riley shoved Miz into the barrier and then into the ringside table. Michael Cole began screaming at Riley, so Riley grabbed him by the tie, pulled him over and slammed Cole down to the floor. That allowed Miz to nail Riley from behind and grab the briefcase. He went to use it but the referee grabbed it.

Riley grabbed Miz for his leaping DDT and nailed him, getting the pin.

Your winner, Alex Riley!
