IGN: The Miz Faces Down His H8R!

IGN talks to the recently "fired" WWE superstar about appearing on The CW's new reality show and confronting internet trolls.

The Miz, as you well know, has had a lot of unexpected free time on his hands recently. No, he hasn't really been fired from the WWE like his storyline has shown, but even his new role of "acting fired" comes with a lot of down time that he normally wouldn't even have as an active WWE superstar. One thing that the WWE hasn't been able to really do because of this new angle is promote the hell out of The Miz's appearance on The CW's reality show H8R tonight. But IGN had the chance to talk to Miz this morning and find out what his upcoming segment is all about.

Wrestling Wrap Up: The WWE Walks Out on Triple H!

Miz, following the formula of the show, will get the change to go face to face (ambush style!) with one of his many haters. "I have a lot of haters and this lucky hater got to be on a TV show with me," The Miz told IGN. "So I'm making my hater famous. Isn't that nice of me?"

"Basically my entire life has been people hating on me" Miz continued. "So to be able to actually meet a person who hates me and will say it to my face was absolutely hilarious and I think it'll be fun to watch. It will probably be the most memorable H8R of all time." So will The Miz's hater wind up having a change of heart or pulling a 180? "Well, what I can tell you so I don't ruin the show completely for you, would be that this hater – I don't care if he hates me or likes me really but I'm going to make him be exactly like me and then maybe he'll realize that I'm the coolest guy he's ever seen in his life."

The Miz is out to prove he is, in fact, awesome.
The Miz has been facing down haters ever since he joined the WWE; in and out of the locker room. But are internet haters something he pays attention to? "I actually enjoy it" he said. "I enjoy all the hating on the internet. I have Google alerts that let me know any time "The Miz" shows up on the internet. I read them all because I feed off it. I feed off negativity because it just makes me shine even more. It's one of things I actually enjoy hearing about. I embrace it."

But negativity is nothing new for Miz. "I've had it ever since I was on The Real World," he continued. "People would just pick on my imperfections. 'Mike has big teeth,' they'd write. You know, things that you can't even change. So I'm like 'okay.' Because they're just going to hate on anything and everything about me. And they don't even know me. So I like to prove them wrong. Like on H8R, I wanted to see what this kid had. Like if he really had ammo on me and was legit, or if he was just a fanboy who was jealous of my success. Some people are just jealous, and some people don't like the attitude or the ego. And some people can't see through it. The Miz on TV is an absolute jerk, but Mike speaking to you right now is more than willing to talk about anything."

R-Truth and The Miz on WWE RAW.
Over the past couple months, starting with CM Punk's "shoot heard round the world,' the WWE has been trying to usher back in an "attitude era" feel where fans might find themselves confused about what's real and what isn't. And now The Miz, along with co-conspirator R-Truth, have found themselves fired from the WWE as part of a storyline. "That's the whole thing of blending reality with storyline and making people believe" the Miz said. And I think the WWE is terrific job of it. Dude, I am relaxing right now. I am chilling. I haven't had a day off from the WWE in I don't know how long. I was like 'this is cool with me. Fire me. I will stay home and relax and watch all my TV shows.'"

So what is Miz watching with all his newfound free time? "I watch Breaking Bad, and I can't wait for the finale to come up this Sunday," he told us. "I just started watching Up All Night because it just came out and I think it's a great show. Modern Family is always good. And believe it or not, I watch Grey's Anatomy. And I'm proud of it."

H8R, featuring The Miz, airs tonight, Wednesday the 5th at 8/7c on The CW.
